Béziers Angels crowned French champions!
It's a big first, and what a first! With a vengeance after their defeat in the French Cup final, the Biterroises dominated the Cannoises in 5 sets, in a match that went absolutely wild! A poorly negotiated match point in the 4th set could have been a real blow to the Angels' morale, but just the opposite happened....
A thunderous tie-break for the Héraultaise, who gave the team-mates of former Biterroise Hélèna Cazaute no chance, winning 15-8 in the fifth set.
A full season!
With a string of extraordinary victories throughout the season, the Angels have reached the pinnacle of French women's volleyball.
Despite losing just 3 games and winning 19 during the regular season, the players climbed the ladder, showing their determination, strength and courage to achieve this much-deserved title.
Thanks Coach...
Cyril Ong is stepping down as coach after 7 years spent doing his utmost to reach the last four of French VolleyBall. As a farewell gift, he offers the people of Béziers this title, which will undoubtedly remain engraved in the town's memories.
On his way to coach Nantes Volleyball, Cyril Ong had hoped to extend his adventure with the Angels, but no agreement was reached with the club. He couldn't hide his disappointment after the final: "People tell me it's nice to leave the club like that. But I think the best thing would have been to stay".
One thing's for sure: his name will go down in the history of women's volleyball! Thanks for everything, and all the best Coach!
